Lore and Legacy
Fabled Myth Drannor
With the start of Tarsakh, Callista tells Lyam and Richard about her parents legacy; that her family is the rightful rulers of Sulasspryn, a small town on the northern shore of the Moonsea. She asks her friends if they want to accompany her to Sulasspryn. They agree, but only after they have made their first real attempt at exploring Myth Drannor.
Before they go to Myth Drannor, Callista must go to Elventree. She wants to visit the shrine of Mystra there and to recharge her wands. To make it a fast journey, they travel by use of Callista's flying ship. They have flewn only for some hours, when Richard spots a huge green dragon taking wing from the forest and starting to pursue them. With some skill and Tymora's will, they manages to shake of the dragon and land close by Elventree.
Their visit in Elventree was rather short, and they talked a little with the locals while waiting for Callista's wands to be finished. As soon as the wands were finished, they left for Myth Drannor. During their journey, they meet a patrol of Red Plumes, but they manage to evade the patrol.
When they arrive in Myth Drannor, their first impression is that the ruins are as deadly as the rumors state (if not deadlier). They only make a small sortie into the ruins, scouting and getting the lay of the ruins. They manages to find the crypt of the Symbaerns, in which Sparrow knows that Ilrune Symbaern has its lair (this was told to him by Kirith Silverstar, co-founder of the adventuring Company of Shining Spear). They learn from Ilrune the where-abouts of the Temple of Oghma, which Sparrow deems worthy of investigation.
They retreat back into the forest, driven by baatezu and a large thirst of stirges. As they seek a good place to camp in, they discuss some new strategies for the next sortie into Myth Drannor. They haven't searched for long, when they discover a large group of humanoids. They scout the humanoid force and learns that it is a Zhentarim-led group.
They decide to lie low for a while and to try and learn what the Zhentarim are up to. Later that night, they attack the Zhentarim and manages to kill most of the humanoids and drives away the rest.
Later that same night, Richard discovers two strangers not far from the Fellowship's base. He discovers that the two, a human mage named Luthien Greensparrow and a dwarf named Keldorn, are planning to explore Myth Drannor. He invites them over to the Fellowship's camp the next day. During his conversation with the two, he tries some harperspeak and gest a response from Keldorn. After a private conversation with Keldorn, Richard has briefed the dwarf about Sparrow and Callista. Keldorn accepts Richard's offer as a member in the Fellowship of the Dales instead of Richard.
When Sparrow and Callista awakes the next morning, they find the note Richard left them, stating that he cannot continue adventuring with them because of religious matters. He tells them about Keldorn and Luthien, and that Keldorn is a harper who will join the Fellowship if they want him. They are pretty mad at him, but necessity forces them to accept Richard's suggestion and let Keldorn take Richard's place in the Fellowship. (Note: my brother wanted to change character, as he felt that a druid at Richard's level would become more involved in the politics of Silvanus faith than with the Harpers. He starts playing Keldorn from now on.)
Later the same morning, they meet with Luthien and Keldorn. After introductions and magical checking, Callista and Sparrow decides to let Luthien come along with them into Myth Drannor. They ask Luthien why he wants to enter Myth Drannor, and he tells them that he is researching mantle-spells, of which the mages of Myth Drannor was famed for using. He wants to find some material to continue his own research with.
They spend the remaining of the day resting and in preparation for entering Myth Drannor.
