Search and studies
The Fellowship decides to take up their various individual studies during the winter months. They agree to begin adventuring after Greengrass, but as soon as Sparrow gets home, he learns of his sister's disappearance. He seeks out Elminster in order to learn where she has gone. The Old Mage, however, only tells Sparrow that Sinnlyvonne is following her own path and that the prophesy is not for his ears. Sparrow gets mad as the Abyss with Elminster and leaves Elminster's tower cursing the Old Mage.
Sparrow seeks out the ghost of Sylune instead, and though he doesn't learn much more, he is calmed down and finally accepts the truth that Sinnlyvonne must do this by herself.
Callista discovers that a brown bear has moved into the grove. When she takes contact with the bear, she learns that it has taken shelter in the grove because of "small annoying things" (which turns out to be pixies). After her first encounter with the bear, she has a vision from Mielikki (she meets the goddess in a dream). She is given the quest to develop magic suitable for use in the wilderness, or Nature Art as she calls it.
After a tenday she comes to the understanding that the bear is her first follower (albeit a difficult one). She tries to train the bear to behave in civilized areas, but it does not work too well.
When Breogorn (the bear) decides to "make lair cozy" in Callista's house, she discovers a note from her parents. It had been hidden in a box's secret compartment, and it contains her first real clue to who her parents. She learns that her surname is Drowsbane, and she decides to seek out Rhauntides in Highmoon.
In the meantime, Richard has received his first mission from the Great Druid. He is to seek out the druid circle Battledale Seven and confirm/dismiss the rumor that one of them is a shadow druid.
The Fellowship meets much earlier than they decided, and they all decide to travel to the southern Dales. Sparrow has decided that he will try to learn more about the prophecy from other sources than Elminster. Richard uses magic to travel to Battledale, while Sparrow and Callista goes by horse. They agree to rendevouz at the Pool of Yeven.
They journey to Highmoon takes eight days, and there Callista learns much about her parents from Rhauntides. During their visit in Highmoon, Callista's childhood friend Azargatha disappears under very mysterious circumstances. A hole in the ground opens up and swallows Azargatha. Callista and Sparrow uses all their resources to try and locate Azargatha, but to no avail.
When Nightal draws to a close, Zebeyana Chazmyr (a drow priestess of Eilistraee) appears in Shadowdale and almost causes a riot. Only through quick thinking manages Sparrow to avert Zebeyana's death at the hands of a mob. Zebeyana has been given a vision of the Dark Maiden that she is to create a temple to the goddess in Shadowdale, and she thought it a good idea to seek out Sparrow and learn the area first. Together they discovers the perfect glade to create a temple of Eilistraee in.
The companions spends three months in research and contemplation, gaining much knowledge and insights.
