I've just added a new poll of the month: Have your PC ever participated in a dragon hunt?

No, but my dragons often participate in PC hunts.

I don't know, does trying to return a baby red-dragon to it's mother count?

Simple answer: Yes

Longer answer:
Later on in their careers, the Daggerford Inquisition took on a trio of sibling green dragons (From size and attitude, we figured them Adult, but just barely.) that had been killing wild elves in the Mistwood.

At first, it was thought to be only one really big Green. But clues led us to figure out there had to be two of the beasties. We figured out they were hold up in the former lair of their late sire. We set a trap and they turned it around on us, costing us an NPC ally and almost a couple of PCs as well. We then went to explore the lair, deep below a lake, and found the third sibling (Dang smart dragons.) and some very nasty traps.

One heck of a set of encounters which led to the quote "Since when do dragons explode?!?"

Have fun,
Philsiefrog

So no proper dragonhunting then? I'd reckon that such endeavors would be more popular amongst PCs. Halidan, having dragons hunting PCs is a lot of fun, without doubt .

Here's an idea for a dragon hunt. Have the PCs travel with a chest of rare spices, for whatever reason, and then set the dragon (perhaps metallic one) lose after it. See if the players can reason out that they're not the true target. Full XP if they get rid of the chest for the right reason.

I think the main reason that I have never hunted a dragon is that it is a rather high level persuit and often our little group never get to high level before we get distracted by another pretty adventure and roll up new characters.

mmmh... my players seem to fight dragons on a quite regular basis... (this started with the Year of the Rogue Dragon) allthough they somehow where never actually part of a dragon hunt, I believe... - they did accept an assignment to help a village up in Silver Marches once and "waylayed" a red dragon eating their livestock - I think that would count...

...but the average reaction to "dragon" is "run" - at least in my groups - no matter their level. They do have such respect from dragons, that they rarely consider going on a hunt for one... they did stumble upon several dragons during their adventures and fought quite a few (more or less successfull) but they are very reluctand when it comes to dragon hunts... :-)

My players in the High Forest campaign would have liked to go on a lich-hunt, but their characters didn't know about the lich so no go .

Been on a lich-hunt disaster back in the 90's lol.

This lich had a sphere of annihilation and it didnt work out too well for us. Jeff's rogue (they were called thieves back in the old days lol) got away but the rest of us were ash.

Mock your enemies while you still retain the breath to do so.

I've never used a lich as an opponent for my PC's, but that's only because my campaigns usuallu don't reach high enough levels. Various players of mine have spoken to liches and even served as their allies, but they've never had to fight one.

This topic has been quiet for a time, but I'd like to wake it up and get some more pollers .

So, have you gone on a dragonhunt in game-session?

No, to be honest it's not something that i have done as either a PC, or a DM, but I have just purchased Draconomicon, so I plan to put that to use alongside the Cult of the Dragon supplement, which I have also just purchased.

Look forward to it though!!
